How To Train Your Cat To Use The Toilet?

Most of us are very fond of keeping indoor cats. Pet lovers are so much in love with the kittens and cats that they want to own them at any cost. But before doing so you need to train yourself to keep the cats properly and know their habits and nature. You must follow all the steps and techniques about how to train your cat to use the toilet. Toilet teaching your cat is a bit hard task to do but not impossible. It would take some time and technique to get your cat used to of using toilet. All you need to do is to know your cat’s nature and habits.

The main steps to be followed to train your cat are as follows:

  • Place litter box beside toilet

The first step you need to follow is to place the litter box your cat is used to of in the toilet, if not in toilet then at least beside the toilet for 2-3 weeks. Place the litter box beside the toilet which is the nearest in your house so that the cat can easily look up for it.

  • Raise the height of the litter box

The next step to follow is that after 2-3 weeks just raise the height of the litter box your cat is currently using right on the place where the litter box has been placed.

  • Use a training seat

When you feel that your cat has all adapted the transition of height. The next thing you have to do is to get a training seat from the market. If you don’t want to buy it you can make it easily at home with the help of an aluminium tray. Place the training seat or the aluminium tray on the toilet seat and fill it up with litter. Practice this step for 2 weeks afterwards.

  • Remove the rings

When your cat adapts the new transition completely, now its time to remove one ring from the training seat. And if you are using the aluminium tray then cut a small hole right in the center of the tray and fill up the remaining part with litter.

Do the task repeatedly until your cat fits into this new adaptation. After a week or two remove another ring from the seat or cut a bigger hole in the aluminium tray.

Keep on doing the task until the day comes when you have to remove the final ring and your cat is all set to use the toilet seat.


Congrats your cat is all set to you the toilet and it’s time for you to get rid of those smelly litter boxes.

While doing all these steps, if your cat at any point becomes resistant then before taking a step further you must take a step back and repeat the previous task again.
