Taking your cat to the veterinarian for regular check-ups is important too.
There are a lot of different medications and remedies on the market today to prevent the parasites from invading your cat’s body. Thus, preventing anything happening to the well-being of your cat, or allowing it to get sick.
Cats of any age are at risk:
Cats of any age are at risk however newborn kittens are the highest. This is because they have not had any type of vaccines against any of the parasites. Older cats tend to have a lower immune system too, so this could cause difficulties as well.
Symptoms of parasites:
Sometimes you can’t see the symptoms of the parasites that are internally attacking your cat. It is hard to discern them. Your cat might have a loss of appetite, diarrhea, weight loss, vomiting, or dehydration. Fatigue could also be a symptom for an internal parasite. It is quite easier for external parasites. Your cat might be scratching or biting at its body or fur. If it is a flea infestation you will know it, the fleas will literally bite you.
There are products you can purchase on the market to get rid of fleas and if your cat is having an allergic reaction to the fleas it is best to take it to the veterinarian too. Some of the products on the market are potent so make sure they are used in a well vented area. Parasites can’t live without your cat. So, they will die off eventually. External parasites have to have your cat to survive and if you move your cat and its things and clean things will get better.
Internal parasites however, can cause a lot more damage and require a lot more attention. They are the type of organisms that thrive on your cat’s organs and cause damage that way. Heart worms and other parasites can kill your cat. Kidneys and other organs are in danger of being affected when it comes to internal parasites.
If you feel your cat has this type of parasite it is imperative that you take your cat to an animal hospital or a veterinarian immediately. This could ultimately save your cat’s life. Veterinarians have antibiotics and medications now that can kill parasites and other dangerous organisms that attack the organs of cats. Otherwise the outcome could be fatal. Parasites are nothing to play games with. It is not like a common cold or flu they are a lot different. Parasites can cause death to your cat.
